Eikholtis a resource and competence centre that offers courses for people with combined visual and hearing impairment/deafblindness and their carers. 

Take care of yourself when your vision and hearing deteriorate

When your sight and hearing deteriorate, we know it affects your life and the lives of those around you. At Eikholt, you'll have the opportunity to put your experiences, thoughts and feelings into words, and get the support and knowledge to cope with the changes.

Eikholt is also a place where you and your loved ones can meet others in similar situations, and there is an opportunity to exchange experiences and tips. Many people report that this is just as important as the course itself.  

To give you the best possible conditions for coping with everyday life, we offer courses for you and your carers. Themes can be: 

Mental health

  • Good mental health is demonstrated when you enjoy your everyday life and feel a sense of belonging and meaning in life. Changes in your sensory function, life situation and society may require adjustment, both for you and your loved ones. 

Self-care

  • Taking care of yourself is an important part of feeling good. When you feel good about yourself, the people around you feel better too. 

Life empowerment

  • Changes in life situations require adjustment for both you and your loved ones. Knowledge about the new situation can provide understanding, overview and increased coping in everyday life.  

Examples of courses that focus on mental health, self-care and life management

  • Parking prices  
  • Family course  
  • Close person course. This is a group course for your carers.  
  • Networking courses. These are group courses for you and others in similar situations. 

We develop the content of the course together with you. We involve your local counsellor and other agencies when you wish.
