Easier everyday life with combined visual and hearing impairment

Eikholtis a resource and competence centre that offers courses for people with combined visual and hearing impairment/deafblindness and their carers.
Activities in everyday life
There are many tasks that are performed during the course of a day. Activities of daily living (ADLs) range from getting to and from work, paying bills, socialising and reading a book. Having control over and mastering your own everyday life is something we all want.
At Eikholt, we offer rehabilitation with the aim of helping you regain or maintain independence in everyday activities when your sight and hearing fail. Rehabilitation is about identifying the activities you want to spend your energy on and the activities that are necessary to carry out. In our courses, you'll learn techniques and strategies you can use to simplify your everyday life.
Eikholt offers both individual and group courses.
What is important for you to master in your everyday life?
Our individual courses are customised to your needs and wishes. We develop the content of the course together with you, and we involve your local counsellor and other agencies when you wish.
Examples of course content for a simpler everyday life can be:
- Activities I want to spend energy on - how do I make it happen?
- Activities I have to do - techniques and coping strategies
- Finding a balance between activity and rest through activity trialling
- Knowledge about the possibilities of technology
- Orientation and movement in a safe way
- Trialling strategies and vision and hearing aids in different activities
- Find ways to increase your ability to communicate and interact with others
