The Eikholt model is launched

Why a Eikholt model?
User surveys, post-course evaluations and employee surveys have described that there is something positive in the walls of Eikholt that can certainly be further developed. To get hold of this something the work of describing our practices was initiated. The purpose is to visualise, raise awareness and take care of what is good, in order to further develop it into something even better. This is what has now become the Eikholt model.

What is the Eikholt model?
The Eikholt model is a model and a theoretical description of how the follow-up of people with combined visual and hearing impairment is viewed from a lifecycle perspective. It describes our practice, why we do what we do and what we want to be for users and their carers. It has been created following user surveys that gave us insight into what users appreciate about Eikholt.
We see each user as unique.
We place great emphasis on creating a vibrant arena for everyone who uses Eikholt. Many people express that they benefit greatly from meeting others in a similar situation. Exchanging experiences and socialising with others with user experience is a value in itself. An offer at Eikholt provides the opportunity for mastery, meaning, community, development and increased quality of life.
We listen to and take our users seriously.
In the Eikholt model, we have chosen not to distinguish between congenital and acquired causes of combined visual and hearing impairment/deafblindness. As a matter of principle, Eikholt has chosen to look at individual differences instead of dividing the group into these two main groups.
We create an arena for learning and
Mastery.
Users are met where they are, listened to and taken seriously by allowing them to influence decisions that affect them.

Rehabilitation is based on a partnership between the user, carers and professionals
