NKCDB with article series about Eikholt

We think we hear with our ears and see with our eyes. But that's only partly true. The remote senses interact much more than we realise.

At Eikholt, we are interested in this interaction. Inspired by Bente Ørbeck's master's study on the influence of vision on hearing, we have started the AV clinic. Anne Jalakas from NKCDB writes about Eikholt: "It can be done better! That's the message from the new AV clinic at Eikholt in Norway. There, a multidisciplinary team is working to maximise visual and hearing residuals in people with deafblindness"

The clinic was inaugurated in September with the conference "Speech understanding as an audiovisual process". In addition to the clinic's staff, Jean-Pierre Gagné, professor of audiology and one of Canada's leading researchers in hearing rehabilitation, gave a lecture.

NKCDB has collected articles from the conference:

We can't restore vision but we can make the most of it

Like a guest who never goes home

Sight is incredibly important for the ability to hear

At Eikholt, users are helped to lower their shoulders

Many magical moments when vision and hearing are optimised
