Never say never

Visual educator Line Hovland from the Eikholt Resource Centre sheds light with an article in the magazine Special needs education how to stimulate development by thinking about "the whole person". The article "Never say never" tells the story of Linda Engen, a young woman with congenital deafblindness and cerebral palsy who, despite many years in school, has not learnt to read and write.

Through an interdisciplinary programme at Eikholt with the optimisation of senses and functions, she has now managed to crack the reading code at the age of 29. The article describes how, with great motivation, she is making great progress, what measures have been implemented and what has been decisive (Spesialpedagogikk 01/17, p.14-19).
